Kentucky Wildcats (3-1), seeking revenge for a 2008 loss to VMI (3-2), started slow but a 24-10 run in the last 7-12 of the first half resulted in a 49-34 halftime lead.

The game developed as 2 teams with contrasting styles.  Kentucky tried to force the ball inside to take advantage of their height advantage, and VMI shot 50% (19-38) from 3 point range. Bubba Parnham had 10 threes himself, finishing with 35 points.  Kentucky tried multiple defenses and multiple defenders to try to slow him down. By the end of the game, Bubba had convinced the Rupp crowd to cheer for him life Rocky converted the Russians in Rocky V! He put on an amazing shooting display that every basketball fan can appreciate.

Kentucky’s bigs led the way with Reid Travis and PJ Washington. Travis finished with 22 points even after VMi’s Sarju Patel delivered a WWF worthy eye scrape! Reid’s eye was noticeably red and swollen, and he finished the game with 22 points and 6 rebounds. PJ Washington channeled his inner Dennis Rodman to finish with 18 rebounds and 19 points. Quade Green added 17 points and was 3-5 from 3-pt range. Kentucky also dominated the free throws by making 29-35 for 83 percent.  VMI was 5-5 free throws.

Coach Calipari says Uk brings out the best from their opponents, and that was the case of a gritty VMI team.  Kentucky was happy with the 92-82 win
