RICHMOND, Ky. – Anysa Jordan, a 2017 West Virginia First Team All-State selection, signed a National Letter of Intent to play collegiate basketball at Eastern Kentucky University, head coach Chrissy Roberts announced today.
Jordan, who hails from Fairmont, West Virginia, will join the Colonels for the 2019-20 season.
“Anysa is a lefty power forward who is an extremely physical player,” Roberts said. “She can play with her back to the basket and facing up. She is very aggressive in her posts moves on the block and also attacking off the bounce from the high post area. Anysa has extended her range and is capable of knocking down the three-point shot. She is a tenacious rebounder and is one who will be fun and exciting to watch. She has a very bright future!”
The 6-foot-1 forward chose EKU over Marshall University, Youngstown State University, University of North Florida, and Mount St. Mary’s.
Jordan averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks per game during her sophomore campaign in 2016-17. She helped Fairmont Senior High School win the AA State Championship and was named to the All-State Tournament Team.
Jordan was averaging 10 points and six rebounds before being sidelined three games into her junior season with an injury.
“I chose EKU because of the amazing environment and people, the well-known criminal justice program and the all-around home feeling,” said Jordan.
As a sophomore in 2015-16, Jordan was chosen to the all-section team and was picked as the Times West Virginian Newcomer of the Year after averaging 10 points and six boards per game.
The Colonels travel to the Bahamas for the Junkanoo Jam this week. Eastern will play Florida State on Friday at 3 p.m.
