Louisville, KY – Ron Hamblin – Sports View America
The Yum Center was rocking, the fans were at a fever pitch. Louisville players were pumped. The Cardinals had just went up 59-36 with 9:55 to go in the game behind 3PT jumper by LOU #33 Jordna Nwora. Then it happened. The comeback was on. Duke was not finished by a long shot. Led by their super Freshman Zion Williamson, Duke would come all the way back to win 71-69 in a demoralizing loss for the Cardinals.
How did it happen? It started at the 9:05 mark left in the second half when Cam Reddish drained a three cutting the lead to 20. Williamson then hit a freethrow, Reddish another three and Williamson hit a jumper after a Cardinal three. By the 1:28 mark left in the game, Reddish drained yet another three to tie the game at 69. Duke outscored Louisville 33-10 to tie the game. Reddish would be fouled with 14 seconds to go in the game and drain both free throw. Louisville would miss the final shot and fittingly, Williamson would grab the final rebound and hold on to the ball until the clock ran out.
Louisville was led in scoring by Jordan Nwora with 23 points and 12 boards. Duke was led by Zion Williamson with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Cam Reddish finished with 22 points. It will be interesting to see how Louisville responds to this crushing loss.
