Dayton Headed To Illinois For First And Second Rounds

DAYTON – The University of Dayton volleyball team will square off against Louisville in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament on November 30. Dayton will play at third-seeded Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, and first serve between the Flyers and Cardinals is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Dayton (23-7) earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with its 3-2 Atlantic 10 Championship win over VCU on Nov. 18. It was the Flyers’ league-record 12th tournament title and UD will be making the program’s 13th appearance in the NCAA field of 64.

Louisville (21-8) closed out its 2018 regular season on Nov. 23 with a sweep of Georgia Tech on the Cardinals’ home court at Cardinal Arena.

The Flyers and Cardinals have previously met 13 times with UofL holding a slim 7-6 lead in the series. The two last squared off in Dayton on Sept. 20, 2008, with UD claiming a 3-2 win.
