Boston College Golden Eagles(3-2) take on the Home team Louisville Cardinals(2-2). This game on paper looks to be pretty evenly matched. BC has a total offense average of 473.2 yards a game UL’s 437.5 yards per game. Conversely UL is averaging 344.2 yards total defensive to BC’s 438.6 yards.

Both teams have huge question marks at Quarterback. The first and second option for Louisville have been battling injury. The healthiest QB is Freshman Evan Conley.

Another factor in the game could be the crowd. 12:30 kickoff time could keep the home crowd away today even though the fans seem to have been behind first year Coach Satterfield and this years Cardinals. With ten Minutes to go before kick the stands only appear to be about 1/3 full.

Boston College wins the toss and wants the ball first.

Golden Eagles start their first drive at the twenty one yard line with Anthony Brown starting at QB.

The Cardinals start the drive at the twenty with Malik Cunningham at QB. The. Cardinals put together a quick scoring drive of Eighty yards. Capped by a three yard touchdown run by Cunningham.

The first quarter ended with BC having gone 3 and out and the Cardinals being flagged with. Two straight false start penalties. The first stanza was a defensive nightmare for both squads. BC giving up 177 total yards, while Louisville gave up 188.

After kick return the Cardinals come out with Evan Conley at Quarterback. The Cardinals. Go for it on Fourth and one. Touchdown Javain Hawkins. Louisville 21-14 with 6:23. To go in the second period.

After a three and out the Cardinals take over on the 9 yard line with Malik Cunningham back in as QB. After moving the ball to the 46 the Cardinals were forced to punt.

With the help of a seventy seven yard pass play the Cardinals find the end zone on just three plays!

Boston College runs their hurry up offense to perfection score the TD. A botched snap on the extra point try results in the holder (Grosel) completing the pass for two point conversion.

To answer with 3 seconds left in the half Blanton Creque’s kick bounces off the upright to end the half with the Cardinals leading 28-22.

The First half ended as a defensive struggle. Louisville gave up 166 yards while BC gave up 235 more yards to the Cardinals.

The Golden Eagles convert a fourth and one at the 34 yard line to keep their first drive of the. Second half alive.( controversial fumble call) Then score on a 19 yard strike to the tight end Idrizi. To take the lead 29–28.

Both Defenses played much better in the third quarter. Louisville holding. Boston College to 53 yards. Boston College held Louisville to 140 yards.

Late in the third quarter Malik Cunningham limped off the field and into the medical tent. Was in the tent for an extended period of time. At the beginning of the. Fourth quarter Cunningham was seen. Warming up behind the. Louisville bench with Conley continuing to take the offensive snaps.

Conley completes a 23 yard TD pass to Dez Fitzpatrick to cap a 96 yard drive. Louisville 38-29 with 14:00. To go in the game..

Anthony Johnson picks off a Grosel pass to give the Cardinal offense the ball back. Malik Cunningham returns to the game with this series. But, the Cards offense fail to move the ball and give BC the ball back on the 30.

Boston College answers with a 70 yard drive to close the gap 38-36.

After some back and forth Boston College makes a 45 yard field goal to take the lead 39-38 with 3:32 to in the game.

Evan Conley leads the Cardinal offense starting at the 25 yard line. Blanton Creque nails the 41 yard field goal with 1:02 to play. Cards take the lead 41-39. Which proves to be the game winner!

This game came down to which team was going to outlast the other. The two teams totaled 1227 yards of offense. Cardinals 664 total yards to Boston College’s 563.

Both backup quarterbacks did a good job of running their respective offenses. Boston College’s Dennis Grosel was 9 of 24 with 111 yards and 3 TD ‘s. Louisville’s Evan Conley was 10 of 16 with 114 yards and 1 TD.

The announced attendance was 46,007. I was surprised that more fans didn’t show up on the most beautiful day all week. Hopefully with this win against an admirable opponent the Cardinal faithful return to support this team.

Louisville next travels to Wake Forest for a 7:30 game. Boston College will host NC State on October 19. Time to be announced.
