LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville head coach Jeff Walz announced today that incoming freshmen Nyah Green and Ramani Parker will both redshirt during the 2019-20 season.

“They’ve both done extremely well, but we had a lot of unforeseen circumstances that came about since their signing. Both of these young women would play as freshmen, but it’s a matter of how much and we agreed this is the best path for them, said Walz. “They are both excited about redshirting and we’re looking forward to it. Whenever you get an opportunity to redshirt players of that caliber and give them an extra year of training, it’s only going to benefit everyone down the road.”

Green is a 6-1 guard from Allen High School in Allen, Texas.  A few weeks ago, she was named to the preseason All-ACC Newcomer Watch List and she comes to Louisville as the No. 12-ranked player in the class of 2019, according to espnW HoopGurlz. The five-star prospect was tabbed as the seventh-best player at the guard position. She was ranked seventh overall and as the third-best guard by Prospects Nation.

Parker, a 6-4 forward out of Fresno, Calif., played for Central High School before transferring to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla., for her senior season. She is a four-star prospect and was ranked 99th overall in the class of 2019, according to espnW HoopGurlz. She was rated No. 13 at the forward position by espnW. She was rated 29th overall and as the seventh-best forward by Prospects Nation.

Louisville opens its season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 against Western Kentucky at the KFC Yum! Center and will play its first five games at home.
