The Bengals host the Baltimore Ravens at Paul Brown Stadium for their week 10 matchup still in search for their first win of the season. The Ravens won the previous meet earlier this season in a contested 23 to 17 victory. The Bengals desperately need to find a win to escape the looming winless season.
The Bengals knew heading into the game that their rushing defense would be tested. The Ravens were ranked first in the NFL in rushing offense. While Cincinnati ranks the worst in the league in rushing defense giving up 177 yards per game.
However, it wasn’t rushing defense that caused the 49 to 13 blowout loss to Baltimore. It was Lamar Jackson. From the opening kick until he left the game early in the 4th quarter Jackson dominated the Bengals. He made it clear they weren’t going to just run the ball by completing a 49-yard pass on the first play of the game. He finished the game on 15 of 17 passing for 223 yards. Jackson also had one of the most electrifying plays of the game when he rushed for a 47-yard touchdown midway through the 3rd quarter.
For Cincinnati everything that could go wrong, did. They threw a pick-six and gave up possession on two fumbles. They did, however, gain enough yards to put points on the board, but gave up the football in crucial times. They gained 307 total yards which wasn’t much less than the Raven’s 379 total yards and actually gained more yards rushing than the Ravens gaining 157 yards compared to Baltimore’s 136.
The Bengals will be on the road next week to take on the Raiders in a 4:15 matchup to try to break the losing streak.
