LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A strong shooting effort lifted No. 8 University of Louisville women’s basketball to a 98-82 victory over Boise State on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center.
With the win, Louisville improves to 5-0 on the year, while Boise State falls to 3-3.
Kylee Shook scored on three consecutive possessions to push the Cardinals to a 12-0 run early in the first quarter. Louisville made eight of their last nine shots, shooting 68 percent from the field, and finished the opening quarter with a season-high 31 points.
Louisville picked up right where they left off in the second quarter, shooting 71 percent from the field. The Cardinals closed out the half making their last seven shots and forced the Broncos into 12 turnovers, while Dana Evans’ buzzer-beater gave them a 58-34 lead heading into the break.
Lindsey Duvall knocked down a 3-pointer with 9:45 to go to give the Cardinals an 84-58 lead, their largest of the game.
Boise State made a late surge, outscoring the Cardinals 24-17 in the final stanza, but UofL held on to a 98-82 victory.
Jazmine Jones led all scorers with 22 points, just three points shy of her season and career high. She finished the game 8-of-12 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. She also had a team-high six rebounds.
Evans had 20 points and a team-high eight assists. She shot 4-of-5 from 3-point range.
Shook and Elizabeth Dixon both totaled 15 points as Louisville concluded the game shooting 54 percent from the field and 43 percent from behind the arc.
Rachel Bowers and Braydey Hodgins each tallied a team-high 16 points for the Broncos.
The Cardinals travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam on Nov. 28-30, first playing UT Arlington on Thursday at 1 p.m
