With 44,138 in attendance it seemed that not even half of the stadium was filled, there was about an equal amount of UK/VT fans. At the start of the game the weather was great right around 55 degrees. The first half was taken by VT scoring 10 to UK 7. The second half was equally played by both teams scoring 7 points each and sending UK into the half only being down 3 points. The 3rd quarter once again was equal with both teams scoring 10 and sending UK into the 4th quarter down 3. The 4th quarter is where UK shined outscoring VT 13-3. One key thing that I caught was that with only 15 seconds left UK scored not just 1 but 2 touchdowns thanks to a forced fumble recovery.
Both UK and VT finish off the season 8-5 however UK did take home a bowl trophy. Lynn Bowden’s 233 rushing yards set a new NCAA record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a Bowl Game. Lynn’s 61 yard touchdown run broke his career record of 60 yards. With today’s win UK has a 6-2 record since taking over the starting quarterback position. Kentucky has allowed only 34 points or less in 27 straight games which is the longest active streak in the nation. One thing to note as well over the last 4 years UK has 25 wins and back to back bowl wins, clearly showing this program is going places under Coach Stoops and crew.
What a upcoming year we have in store with the recruiting class coming in to join the players staying. This will be a great year to become a season ticket holder if you’re not already one. The CATS need your support and fandom more than you can image. Let all stay positive and continue to uplift our team and players. 2020 is going to be a great year and I look forward to seeing everyone there.
