For the second time this season the Kentucky Wildcats and the Georgia Bulldogs squared off in a SEC matchup. The battle took place in Lexington tonight, but the Cats picked up where they let off in Athens and won decisively 89 to 79. The Wildcats led throughout the game, except for a brief 24 seconds when the Bulldogs took a one-point lead after a 9 to 0 run in the first half.

The 41 to 35 lead that the Cats took in the locker room at halftime was gained primarliy by playing great defense. They forced Georgia to miss the first five shots of the game and held them to 34% from the field and 20% from behind the arc. Nick Richards led the Cats with 10 points and 3 rebounds at halftime.

The momentum stayed on Kentucky’s side throughout the second half as Kentucky led by as many as 16 and the victory was never in question. Perhaps the best aspect of the win tonight was the play from Johnny Juzang. He had struggled since the beginning of the season and even missed a few games due to illness, but tonight he was a huge contributor to the win. Juzang scored 6 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and defended well in his 18 minutes of playing time.

Ashton Hagans had another productive night leading all scorers with 23 points and delivered 3 assists. Nick Richards tallied 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Kentucky shot 53% from the field and scored 46 points in the paint.

The Cats have looked great since the loss to South Carolina and will look to continue the good play when the travel to Texas Tech to play the Red Raiders in a 6 p.m. tip. The game can be viewed on ESPN.
