Greenville, SC: On Wednesday, November 18th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball squad began pool play in the NCCAA DII National Tournament. The Pippa Passes crew received a late at-large bid to the tournament and looked to enjoy the experience as long as possible. They would eventually face three solid opponents in their first-ever national appearance.

The second overall seed BJU jumped ahead quickly in game 1 and led the entire way enroot to the 25-12 decision.

 In Game 2, the score was close and Bob Jones was clinging to a 12-11 lead when they went on a massive 13-1 blitz to close the game and win 25-13.

Alice Lloyd witnessed the power of their South Carolina counterpart in Game 3 as BJU jumped out to a 13-3 lead. Unfortunately, ALC had no answer as they dropped the match 25-9.

On the day for ALC, freshman Brooklyn Cheek led in kills with 7. Sophomore Adrianna Riley and freshman Caroline Parsons led the way in digs with 7 apiece while Parsons recorded 9 assists.

Dallas Christian 25 25 25

The third overall seed DC jumped ahead in game 1 and led the entire way as they took the opener 25-12.

In Game 2, the score was close early before Dallas went on a blitz to close the game and win 25-12. The Texas squad looked to ice the match in Game 3 as they pulled away from the get-go on their way to the 25-12 clincher.

On the day for ALC, Cheek led in kills with 9. Parsons led the way in digs and assists with 13 of each.

Toccoa Falls 25 19 25 25

On Day 2, ALC faced fifth-seeded Toccoa Falls. The Georgia club jumped ahead in game 1 but watched the Lady Eagles battle intensely to the wire. TF made some clutch plays late to win a nail-biter, 25-22.

In Game 2, the score was close early before the Pippa Passes squad hit a late spurt to gain some breathing room. They would then tie the day up with the nice 25-19 victory.

In crucial Game 3, the Toccoa squad took the early lead, but they had to deal with a determined bunch of Lady Eagles who pushed them tooth-and-nail. Unfortunately, TF would make the big plays late to win 25-21.

The Georgia squad looked to seal the match in Game 4 as they pulled away at the midway point and slowly extended their lead on the way to the 25-13 clincher.

On the day for ALC, sophomore Callie Richardson led in kills with 13 and Cheek chipped in 8 kills. Riley led in digs with 15 while Parsons led the way in assists with 14 and added 12 digs. Fellow freshman Kristen Isaac was just behind with 12 assists of her own.

 

Alice Lloyd closes out their year with an 8-20 record against a very challenging schedule. Although the squad loses two fine seniors, the good news is that the team returns a great deal of talent, and knows the potential is there for this group to go even further in 2021-22.
