Pregame

Kentucky fans showed up early and in full force, surrounding Kroger Field for the Wildcats’ first late-night matchup of the season. Tailgating stretched throughout the day as Big Blue Nation anticipated a new chapter under starting quarterback Cutter Boley. The lower bowl was nearly packed, and about half the upper deck filled in by kickoff, giving the game a lively atmosphere.

First Half

The Wildcats wasted no time, jumping out to a 14–0 lead behind running back Seth McGowan, who scored twice in the opening half. Boley impressed from the start, showcasing his strong arm and delivering accurate throws downfield — a welcome sight for fans after two inconsistent weeks with Zack Calzada at the helm.

Tight ends were heavily involved in the passing game. Josh Kattus hauled in several key grabs, including a 34-yard sideline reception and a four-yard touchdown. Willie Rodriguez added to the effort with a three-yard touchdown catch of his own. Eastern Michigan managed to claw back with a few scores, but Kentucky entered halftime comfortably ahead, 28–16.

Second Half

Kentucky kept its foot on the gas after the break. McGowan continued his dominance, punching in his third touchdown of the night while finishing with 104 rushing yards on 18 carries. Boley stayed poised and efficient, completing 12 of 21 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns.

From there, it was smooth sailing. The Wildcats never let Eastern Michigan threaten, pulling away for a decisive 48–23 victory. The win improved Kentucky to 2–1 on the season, providing fans plenty of optimism after the disappointment of last week’s loss to Ole Miss.

When do the Cats play again

Kentucky will be on a bye week and then will head down to Columbia, South Carolina to play the South Carolina Gamecocks with time and TV details to be put out at a later date.
