LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s basketball redshirt sophomore guard Dominika Paurová tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and is out indefinitely.
Paurová, a Czech Republic native, enters her second year at Kentucky. She played her freshman season at Oregon State in 2023-24, where she averaged 5.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game.
The Wildcats will tip off their 52nd season of varsity status on Nov. 3, with Kentucky playing host to in-state foe Morehead State inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. Fewer than 125 reserved season tickets remain, while single-game tickets went on sale today.
In 2025-26, UK returns 46.7 percent of its scoring and 70.9 percent of its rebounding in just the frontcourt alone.
The Triplets – Clara Strack, Teonni Key and Amelia Hassett – also were a force to be reckoned with on defense, helping the team finish first in the nation in blocks last season (7.0). That trio, who are all returning as upperclassmen, also ranked second in the Southeastern Conference and ninth in the nation in defensive rebounding last season (29.5). UK also ended the regular season as the only team in Division I to have three players averaging at least 8.0 rebounds per game (Strack – 9.7, Key – 8.1, Hassett – 8.0).
UK head coach Kenny Brooks also bolstered the roster with three all-conference guards in Tonie Morgan, Asia Boone and Josie Gilvin and a McDonald’s All-American wing in Kaelyn Carroll.
Excitement abounds for Jordan Obi’s return, too, who sat out last season with a lower-leg injury.
Obi is a 1,000-point scorer in four seasons at Penn. Her last season playing in 2023-24, the All-Ivy League First Teamer averaged 14.7 ppg, a team-high 7.7 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.4 bpg. She shot 43.3% from the field, 38.6% from the arc (34-88) and 82.7% from the line (81-98). She scored in double digits in 22 of her 28 games, earning six double-doubles.
