Lexington, KY 1-23-21 – UK ended their second losing streak of the season with a well rounded played game by defeating LSU 82-69.

Several observations can be made from the win including the rebirth of Brandon Boston Jr.  Boston, appears to have woke up after being benched against Georgia where he posted 18 points coming off the bench. Against LSU, Boston scored 18 more although his shooting is still a question mark. Boston hit on 7 of 17 shots and 2 of 7 from deep. UK used balanced scoring with 4 scoring in double figures, Mintz 11, Brooks Jr. 15, Sarr 13, and 4 others getting in the scoring column, Allen 6, Toppin & Jackson 6 each and Ware with 7.

Jackson, continues to show his great talent pulling down 15 rebounds. Askew played 33 minutes and did not score going 0-5 from the field, fresh on the heals of an 0-6 game against Georgia in his last game. Allen and Toppin both appeared to slide back in Cal’s rotation despite playing solid roles the past few games. Allen hit 2 threes in just 15 minutes while Toppin got his 6 points in 9 minutes. Sarrs played 12 minutes due to foul trouble but still managed 13 points.

On the brighter side of things and a clear reason for the Cats win, UK managed just 9 turnovers while 15 assists although only having 2 in the 2nd half. UK is going to have to pretty much win out and win the SEC Tournament to make the NCAA Tournament.
