To be contested June 28th – July 1st, 2021 at Keene Run

NICHOLASVILLE, KY (February 9, 2021) – The Barbasol Championship, Keene Trace and Golf House Kentucky announced in 2019 the creation of the Barbasol Junior Championship, a 54-hole junior stroke play championship which was to be contested in 2020. Unfortunately, like many events and competitions it was cancelled and rescheduled for 2021. This year’s tournament field will consist of 120 of the top male junior golfers from across the world, with the champion earning a coveted exemption into the 2021 PGA TOUR Barbasol Championship.

“We had so many people signed up last year and we are sure we will garner an even better field this year. The Barbasol Championship is committed to its ongoing investment in the great sport of golf and golfers, including juniors and professionals. We are excited to be partnering with Golf House Kentucky to introduce this unique event and watch the best juniors compete at Keene Run Golf Course,” said Bryan Pettigrew, Tournament Director of the Barbasol Championship.

Golf House Kentucky, a non-profit organization comprised of the Kentucky Golf Association, Kentucky PGA Section and Kentucky Golf Foundation, also played an integral role in making the event a reality.

“We are dedicated to promoting the game of golf throughout Kentucky. The Barbasol Junior Championship will not only shine a spotlight on golf in our state, but bring in junior competitors from other sections,” said Jeff Adkerson, Executive Director of Golf House Kentucky. “It will provide a unique opportunity for local junior golfers to earn their way into the field and compete for a spot in a PGA TOUR event in their home state.”

The Barbasol Junior Championship is the only junior golf tournament in the country to offer an exemption to a PGA TOUR event. The Barbasol Junior Champion will get the opportunity to play with the pro’s in the 2021 Barbasol Championship, which will be contested on July 15th – 18th at Champions at Keene Trace Golf Club.

“We want to use our resources to grow the game of golf across the country, and we believe junior golf in Kentucky can lead this effort,” said William B. Frye, co-owner of Keene Trace Golf Club.

Applications for the 2021 Barbasol Junior Championship will be available beginning Monday, February 8th, 2021. For complete information on the Barbasol Junior Championship please visit: www.barbasoljunior.com
