November 9 – The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Mexico City Capitanes 110-96 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

The Lakeland Magic struck first on the opening possession with an emphatic dunk from Mychal Mulder, two-way Orlando Magic player making his Lakeland Magic debut. Jordan Howard led the Capitanes in the first quarter with 11 points, helping Mexico City take a first-quarter lead. It was a back-and-forth second quarter as the Capitanes took an eight point lead into the half.

Justin Reyes posted a 15-point third quarter and Mexico City extended their lead going into the fourth. Lakeland rallied in the final period behind strong quarters from both two-way players, Mulder and Ignas Brazdeikis, but it wasn’t enough and the Capitanes held on for the win.

Mulder finished with a team-high 21 points and three rebounds. Brazdeikis posted 19 points, three rebounds and two assists. BJ Johnson added 19 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Reyes scored 30 points and five rebounds. Howard finished with 24 points, four rebounds and 4 assists. Alfonzo McKinnie scored 22 points and five rebounds.

The Lakeland Magic and Mexico City Capitanes square off again on Thursday, November 11 at 7 PM EST at the RP Funding Center. Fans can tune in on ESPN+.
