MOREHEAD, Ky. — Blessing King, who averaged a double-double in her one junior college season and who is her high school program’s all-time leading rebounder, has joined the Morehead State women’s basketball program.

A 5-10 guard/forward from Columbus, Ohio, King will be a sophomore at MSU in 2023-24.

“Blessing is a huge sign for us!” said Head Coach Cayla Petree. “Her ability and willingness to rebound the basketball is elite. Her length and athleticism is special. She comes to us from a junior college program that produces Division I athletes year in and year out. She has been coached well and has the discipline and basketball IQ to really help us this season and in the future.”

At Florida SouthWestern State in 2022-23, King averaged 13.7 rebounds and 10.4 points. That total included an eye-popping 6.0 offensive rebounds per game. King also averaged a blocked shot per game.

King produced 18 double-figure rebounding games, including 10 games with 15+ boards and five outings with more than 20 rebounds. She had 11 games with double-digit points.

King attended high school at Worthington Christian in Columbus. She was the District Player of the Year and was First-Team All-State as a senior when she totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds per game. She finished her career with 1,100 points and is WCHS’ all-time leading rebounder with 964.
