(10-11-21) UK has started turning heads with their recent wins over then #11 Florida and then a beat down of LSU. Now the Cats are 6-0 and on a collision course with the number 1 team in the country. What real chance do they have to upset Georgia on the road? UK has played one road game, a close fought win at South Carolina. Georgia will be Kentucky’s second road test of the year. Georgia will be the toughest road game for UK in some time.

UK ia averaging 31 points a game while putting up 411 yards in offense. UK’s attack has been very balanced getting 197 yards a game passing and 214 rushing the ball. Georgia looks to shut down UK’s vaunted rushing attack. Georgia is giving up a miniscule 5.5 points a game, so Kentucky’s offense will have to come up with more than 5 points to even come close to beating Georgia.

The point spread for this game at this time is -22.5 in favor of Georgia with the over/under at 44.5. It looks like oddsmakers don’t expect Kentucky to score very much at all with these odds. For these numbers to happen, Georgia would have to win by a score of 33.5 to 11.

A look At Georgia’s stats for the season show some impressive numbers. One huge stat is only giving up 1 passing touchdown and 1 rushing touchdown. Georgia has given up 399 yards rushing, TOTAL, for the season.  That’s a paltry 66.5 yards a game.

SO what does Kentucky need to do to have a chance at beating the #1 team in the country. 1st is they have to protect the ball. Kentucky cannot give Georgia extra plays with turnovers. 2nd, Kentucky has to keep penalties to a minimum. 3rd, the Cats cannot let the Bulldogs have big plays. The defense has to stay disciplined and not let Georgia run wild. On offense, UK has to run the ball and they simply must have plays that keep QB Will Levis off his back. The odds maker have this one at -22.5 spread. If UK can do everything and play a perfect game, they can keep it with in 10 points. Keeping the game close or even pulling off the upset, could very well put Kentucky in the playoff picture.
