Jackson, KY 12-28-22
In a rare Wednesday afternoon matinee, the JV Lady Cats from Breathitt County took on Pike Central at the Coliseum. Breathitt would jump out to a 10-6 first quarter lead behind Alexis Pelfrey’s 8 points. The game took on an early aggressive tone as the referees let both teams play and that led to a lot of scrapping and very few fouls. The second quarter saw Pike Central outscoring Breathitt 2-0. It was more of a rugby match instead of a basketball game.

The second half was much like the first Breathitt outscore Pike Central 13-9 to squeeze out a hard fought 23-17 win. Both teams shot 7 free throws for the game. The Lady Cats had 6 fouls called on them while Pike Central only had 12 fouls called on them.

Breathitt was led in scoring by Alexis Pelfrey with 11 points, followed by Lexie Combs with 10. Charlie Stacy rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Haley Moore, Brooklyn Brewer, Harper Allen, Lindy Allen & Tenly Hayes all played but did not score.

Pike Central was led in scoring by Hollie Bryant with 4 points, Kone Ray, Lorch Stanley & Lakin Fleming all had 3 points, Layle Johnson & Arianne Hamilton rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.
