NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Max Williams hit a pair of home runs as the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team evened its Atlantic Sun Conference series with a 7-5 victory over Lipscomb University on Saturday.

The Colonels scored first on an RBI triple from Conner Davis in the top of the first inning.  After the Bisons tied it in the bottom of the first, a ground out off the bat of Ehinger Adrianza in the top of the second staked the visitors to another one run lead, 2-1.

Williams stretched the margin to three, 4-1, with a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning.  The senior outfielder made it 6-1 with a solo shot in the top of the fifth.

After Lipscomb drew within 6-4 with two runs in the sixth, Ron Franklin Jr. hit his 11th home run of the season to start the seventh inning and push the lead back to three.

Williams finished 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.  Franklin was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Colonels (11-27, 8-9 ASUN).  Joe Clancy pitched the final 1 1/3 innings with a walk and two strikeouts to earn his second save of the season.

Trace Willhoite went 2-for-3 with a home run, a run and an RBI for the Bisons (12-25, 8-9 ASUN).

Sunday’s series finale will start at 2 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.
