We are here at the start of the opening game for day 1 of the UK Healthcare Boys’ Basketball Sweet 16 between Jeffersontown & Lincoln County. Off to an early start as Lincoln is up 9-14 with 3:15 left to play in the 1st quarter of this opening session, coming out of a media timeout Jeffersontown is looking to cut in that lead Lincoln has over them before the end of this quarter. After the 1st half of playing Lincoln is still up by 8, JTOWN is hoping to come out of the locker room ready to dig back into the court, so they are able to get in the chase for the lead during this game. Coming out for the 2nd half of the game both teams are looking for the same thing that ticket into the Elite 8 that will allow them to survive another day in the greatest game in hoops. 2:48 left to play here in the 3rd quarter, Jeffersontown has cut it down to be within in 6 points of being tied up with Lincoln but, will they be able to make enough stops to allow them to do so. All of a sudden with under 2 minutes to play here before the end of the 3rd JTOWN has drove hard to their end of the court and made it only 2-point game between them and Lincoln County. Going into the last 9 minutes of play here in the opening game for the Boys’ Sweet 16 we are tied between both teams, after almost 5 minutes of play we are still 37-37 with both teams are in the bonus for free throws. 2:23 left to play in regulation here and we are still tied with the score 39-39 and JTOWN has the ball looking to do something with it and they SCORE to put them up two with 1:27 left to play Lincoln is able to go to the free throw line to pull off the 45-41 against JTOWN and allows them to move to the Elite 8 Friday night at Rupp Arena.
