George Rogers Clark vs. Pikeville 3.18.22

Now in the 2nd game Pikeville is looking to knock off one of the toughest teams not just in the Sweet 16 but all year GRC. We will see of the course of the game if they are able to hold up right there with Clark County and not let them start digging a big lead against them, so far, they have been able to not fall too far behind, but we will see as we enter this 2nd quarter of play. 3:51 left to play and Pikeville is only down by 4 points, GRC comes down the court to drill a 3 pointer to make the lead now 7. Coming out of the locker room both teams are looking to work on what they both did during the first half of this game, 1:25 left here in the 3rd quarter it is only a nine-point GRC lead as Pikeville is fighting to stay in this one. Under 4 minutes to go here in this last quarter of play and Pikeville is only down by 4, will they be able to bring it back to an even score before the buzzer sounds in regulation play here at day #3 of the UK Healthcare Boys’ Sweet 16. After one the hardest fought games not just one team but both of them GRC is able to claim the 43-38 victory over Pikeville to secure their spot in tomorrow’s Final Four game where they will face Lincoln County at 11:00 AM in the first round of Final Four games here in Rupp Arena. During the post-game conference GRC Coach Josh Cook spoke about his game plan for the team between now and the Final Four as there is a chance they will have to play twice if they advance to the State Championship. Cook’s comments were “This has been typed out for a week now in preparation for this moment. We will all eat on the bus then the boys have a 7:30 curfew making sure they are in bed wherever they are staying, and they will be getting phones calls from the coaching staff to make sure they are there as well as wake up calls to be ready to go for the Final Four in the morning.” Everyone will be on the lookout tomorrow during their Final Four matchup against Lincoln County how that plan went into action for each of them.
